Share This Course! is an experiment in creative collaboration. We’re working together to understand how the sharing technologies and culture of the early 21st century can be applied to the specific task of creating a book which talks about this new world of shared culture, knowledge and power, a book titled Share This Book.
We started our journey on 21 November 2009 and expect to be well into it through at least the middle of February 2010. This blog is our main gathering point, where we meet to discuss, to debate, to create and to produce. If you’d like to join us, please register on the blog and dive in!
If this does interest you:
- Have a good look at what’s going on. It makes sense to spend some time ‘lurking’ in a conversational thread before you launch into it.
- Register on the blog. Registration is open to all. Once you’ve registered, you’ll have ‘Contributor’ status. That means you can manage your own replies in the conversational threads. Once we get to know you better, you’ll get ‘Author’ privileges, which allow you to create your own posts.
- Plan on spending at least a little time every day absorbing the conversations and participating in them.
- Share This Course! will proceed in two distinct sections: from 21 November through 14 December 2009, we’ll be working out ideas and issues of sharing as it relates to our project. Then we’ll break for three weeks for the holidays. On 3 January 2010 we come back and begin our collective creative work, writing Share This Book. How long that will take is anyone’s guess – but it’s safe to assume it will be a few months.
